BECOMING A MEMBER
Thank you for inquiring about membership at Our Savior. We are excited about your interest and are delighted you are considering making Our Savior your church home.
There is great value in “belonging.” Membership means you are part of a family, part of a team. It means you have pastors and people to serve you and help meet your and your family’s spiritual needs. Membership gives you a place to receive, be fed, to give, serve, use your gifts to make a difference in the lives of people for Christ, to support missions and missionaries, and to participate in important decision making opportunities that impact people’s lives for Christ.
If you are moving to the area and presently belong to another Missouri Synod Lutheran Church (LCMS)
Arranging for a transfer of membership from another LCMS church is a very simple process. Contact Heather Scheuermann, parish administrator, and she will put you in touch with our Lead Pastor Keith Piotter, oslcparishadmin@mediacombb.net or (563) 332-5141. One of our pastors will set up a time to meet and get acquainted as the transfer of membership takes place. You may also contact Pastor Keith directly at pastorkeithoslc@mediacombb.net.
If you belong to a Lutheran Church other than LCMS
Contact Heather Scheuermann and she will put you in contact with Pastor Keith to set up an opportunity to meet and talk through the simple process. Sometimes a transfer of membership can happen very easily after getting acquainted. You may be asked to take our adult information course before procuring a transfer of membership just to make sure there is clear understanding of some of the key differences between Lutheran synods.
If you are coming from a different denominational background or no church background
We ask that you consider attending our adult instruction course called, Belonging by Grace. It is a three-month class which meets on Sunday mornings during the Sunday school hour, 9:30-10:30. It is free of charge and child Care and Sunday school is offered at the same time for your kids. There are no tests or obligation to join. Class sessions are video-recorded and placed on our website for Sundays that have to be missed.
Upon completion of the course if it is your desire to officially join you will be warmly welcomed at that time into membership. Belonging by Grace is offered currently twice a year starting in September and February. You can sign up for the next class by contacting our parish administrator.
